ABOUT THE PROGRAM
What this actually is.
Grappling here is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Grips, position, pressure, and the submission at the end of it. Four grappling classes run each week, on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
The rule is position before submission. You learn to hold guard and pass it, to get to mount and side control, and to escape when your partner gets there first. Technique lets you use your whole body and your partner's momentum, so a size gap stops being the whole story.
You don't need a background in anything. The beginner curriculum starts at zero: how to fall safely, how to move your hips, how to drill with a partner, before any live rolling. From there you build at your own pace.
A CLASS · STEP BY STEP
What to expect.
Warm-up with grappling-specific movement and conditioning drills
Technique instruction: a position, the details that make it work, then the escape
Partner drilling with progressive resistance
Positional rounds and live rolling, always optional for beginners
Cool-down and time to ask the coach questions
The first week is free, and you pick the day.

How the progression goes.
- WK. 01 to 04
Falls, frames & fundamentals
Breakfalls, hip movement, posture, grips. Falling safely comes before anything else. Drilling only, no live rolls.
- WK. 05 to 12
Positions & technique chains
Guard, mount, side control, and how to move between them. Takedowns start landing because you can read what your partner is doing.
- WK. 13+
Live rolling & sparring
Live rolling and takedown sparring open up, and both stay optional. You'll get tapped a lot before you tap anyone.

Grappling FAQ.
Not on this timetable. Grappling at this gym is Jiu-Jitsu. If you want a standalone wrestling class, Falls Church, Vienna, Ashburn, Purcellville, and South Riding run one.
That is exactly who the beginner classes are built for. Coaches scale every drill to your level, and our typical new student walks in with zero experience.
It is one of the safest combat practices because you control the intensity. Submissions get tapped long before anything happens, and technique comes before power in every class.
Not to start. Wear a rash guard or a fitted t-shirt and athletic shorts for your first few classes. We'll help you pick a gi if you want one later.
Yes. Once a fight leaves striking range, this is what decides it. Positions, control, and escapes carry over directly.
